JustJust outside of Cork City, as you travel toward Middleton and Youghal on the N25 Road is located a wonderful and very tropical island out in Cork Harbor. Fota House and the Estate take up much of the Island. There also is a very nice wild animal park which you can visit and a beautiful garden area and an arboretum. The Fota House is a fine 18th century hunting lodge which was transformed into a superb mansion. The 70 acre Wildlife Park specializes in breeding many endangered species, including cheetahs and wallabies. A very nice and interesting way to reach Fota is by a local railroad service from the railroad station in Cork City with stops at Fota and Cobh. Has wonderful harbor views.
