"I remember well that day in the summer
as we followed the Ranger down the very narrow trail descending
into Bryce. All week we had been above the canyon looking down,
at what seemed to be a model of paste and flour, you know like
the maps you made very long ago in grade school. The golden color
of the columns that began to rise above us as we descended became
omni present in the landscape. Looking up beyond the columns, the
blue sky, at times partially shaded from our view. The view at
times resembled a magnificent castle with all of its towers ascending
skyward. Looking at the world from down in Bryce
Canyon, a magnificent sensation!"
